Your Appointment

Meet and greet

For your first appointment it is best for a parent to be present, after which caregivers may be present if a parent cannot be there.  When Dr. Sara arrives, she'll spend a few minutes getting to know you and your child / children. She'll go over the health history questionnaire that you fill out prior to the first appointment, and discuss relevant issues such as your child's diet. We'll get your child ready for the exam.

Oral health education

Dr. Sara will spend some of the visit helping to educate parents about basic oral health, so you can make better informed decisions about your child's diet and dental care. Dr. Sara will leave behind helpful resources to support your family's oral health.

Exam and Cleaning

The exam will take place in a comfortable room in your home where your child feels safe. Dr. Sara will first go over proper brushing techniques with you and your child, and talk about the importance of a healthy diet and good oral health habits.

Dr. Sara will conduct a standard dental examination and cleaning.

Follow up

Dr. Sara will establish a personalized follow up plan for your child based on the results of the exam. The date of next exam could be in six months or a year (or even longer), depending on your child's risk of developing a cavity.

If the exam reveals that your child has a cavity that should be filled, or other treatment is necessary, Dr. Sara will arrange for a follow up visit at a full service pediatric practice where she also sees patients.
